This course provides an in-depth study of clinically significant fungi and parasites and their role in human disease. Emphasis is placed on the identification, classification, and characterization of yeasts, molds, dimorphic fungi, dermatophytes, zygomycetes, protozoa, and helminths. Students will learn laboratory techniques for culture, staining, and microscopic examination of fungi, as well as methods for detection and identification of parasites in clinical specimens. Correlation of laboratory findings with clinical presentation is emphasized to support accurate diagnosis and patient care.
