This is an advanced course designed to expand student knowledge of hematologic and hemostatic disorders with an emphasis on clinical interpretation and laboratory correlation. Content includes a comprehensive study of anemias (microcytic, normocytic, macrocytic, and hemolytic), hemoglobinopathies, white blood cell disorders, and leukemias of both myeloid and lymphoid origin. Additional focus is placed on platelet function disorders and advanced coagulation processes, including both bleeding and thrombotic conditions. Emphasis is placed on integration of laboratory data with clinical presentation through progressive case studies and problem-solving exercises to prepare students for entry-level clinical laboratory practice.
