This course provides an overview of the fundamental principles and practices of coaching sports. Students will explore the roles and responsibilities of a coach, including leadership, communication, athlete development, practice planning, and game management. Emphasis is placed on creating a positive sport environment that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong participation in physical activity. Additional topics may include safety and injury prevention, ethical coaching practices, and the physical, psychological, and social development of athletes. This course is designed for individuals interested in coaching at the youth, middle school, high school level, and beyond.
